i got scammed today.

i got a phone call last week confirming a toner order and thinking that it was an order that was placed before i was here, i went ahead and confirmed it. so they sent it. i got it today. as well as a bill for nearly $2,000. well. WELL. apparently there are people out there running scams for office supplies. i'm aware that people will take advantage of you (IM AWARE. that definitely goes out to all my friends that like to say 'welcome to new york stephanie' and then take a self-righteous drag of their cigarette, whenever my feathers are ruffled by the great unwashed.) but really, i'm AMAZED at this scam. not that it exists but more because people, REAL GROWN ASS PEOPLE are the ones doing this.

luckily in this case it was caught right away and we sent it back...but it's amazing the extent to which people just steal and don't give a shit about anything. this is another case of when does a groups number grow enough where they aren't regarded as individuals anymore, but as entities that can be stolen from, scammed, die in floods, etc. and one doesn't really grasp any sort of moral register of wrong doing or harm.
